health problems in older gsps

I have an 11 yr. old female that has high liver levels and is overweight. She is on deramaxx 75mg. one daily and thyroid meds 2x daily. She is on a rx vet prescribed liver supplement (denmarin (sp)) as well. I have put her on Wellness Core Reduced Fat Food for weight loss. Also I have read that grain-free diets will help with the skin issues she is having, namely thinning hair. I somehow feel like I am giving her too much meds and not the right food. Anyone can help me here? I have her 9 yr. old daughter as well. She is a little overweight and has some skin dandruff but other than that, is doing and looking great. Any suggestions I would greatly welcome. I have looked at websites that suggest low protein food and getting her off deramax. We don't have a diagnosis of liver disease or cushings but I think I will not know unless I take her off the deramaxx. I also supplement with fish oil capsules and phycox soft chews. and benadryl for alllergy symptoms. any help, thanks in advance.
